Our speakers have included regionally and nationally known figures, as well as DAR members from our own and other chapters. We strive to present a variety of topics, which in recent years have included the 19th Amendment, advice on healthy aging, the experiences of helicopter pilots in Vietnam and the Women’s Army Corps in World War II, the Greensboro civil rights sit-in, a public school reading program, a program to provide service dogs to veterans, and various topics of Colonial and North Carolina history. Our historically themed holiday programs have featured local high school choirs, and we have ended the year with a picnic.

2024

September 4

1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

“Everything You Should Have Learned in High School About The Articles of Confederation“
– Presented by the Exhibit & Program Coordinator, Orange County Historical Museum

October 2

1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

“The March King and the Stars & Stripes”
– Presented by the Registrar, General Davie Chapter, NSDAR

November 9

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

“The Veterans Life Center”
– Presented by the Founder and Executive Director, Veterans Life Center of North Carolina

December 4

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

“The Heroic Campaign of Bernardo de Galvez”

2025

January 4

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

“A Day in the Life of Dolley Madison“
– Presented by a Member, General Davie Chapter, NSDAR

February 5

1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

“A 21st Century Walk in My Ancestors’ Shoes”
– Presented by a U.S. Navy Reserve (ret.)
